About Northwest Violence Prevention
Solutions
Located
in Bellingham, WA, Northwest Violence Prevention Solutions
was founded in 2001 as the Northwest Center for Violence
Prevention Training, and was reorganized as Northwest
Violence Prevention Solutions in 2007.
NVPS' sole mission is to create stronger and
more effective educational, business, and religious
communities by helping them to identify, reduce and prevent
acts of violence.
Northwest Violence Prevention Solutions was formed
as a way to bring the founders' extensive training and
experience into the community as Violence Prevention
Educators--specifically in the area of Bullying, Harassment,
and Related Violence Prevention.
Services have since been expanded to include prejudice
reduction and community building, risk management, misc.
violence prevention services, conflict resolution,
facilitation, and grant administration.
After an extensive literature review and consultations with
school administrators, faculty members of several
universities, and business leaders, the founders recognized
a need for bullying and harassment prevention programs, and
began to place special emphasis on bullying and harassment
prevention--especially among high school and middle school
students. In addition, they recognized a need to provide
sexual harassment, harassment, and occupational bullying
prevention and response policy to corporations, so that
businesses would be able to adequately protect themselves
from litigation, and their employees from an unsafe work
environment.
